Challenge
In 2012, the Mandolay Hotel, Guildford was a hotel not capitalising on being Surrey’s largest independent events venue. Wedding bookings were poor and their marketing material was disjointed and dated. We were asked to rebrand the Mandolay as part of a strategy to generate more interest in their wedding and conference facilities.
Solution
The initial redesign encompassed the redesign of their logo, identity guidelines and the implementation of a new look across a wide range of marketing materials. As part of a rebranding exercise we acted as brand marshals, ensuring that all communications looked consistent and looked part of a family. Over the past three years the brand identity has continued to develop and has been applied to every area within the hotel.
The visual identity was created to give a specific look and feel to The Hotel’s different markets: weddings, conferences, Christmas and The Spa. Part of the rebrand included commissioning fresh photography of their conference facilities, redecorated bedrooms and dining areas.
Result
Investment in the rebrand has helped to turn the Mandolay around. It has gone on to win several hotel awards including an entry into Condé Naste Johansen’s Guide, two AA Rosettes for their highly acclaimed restaurant and Best Loved Hotels. Weddings bookings have increased five-fold annually since 2012 and the hotel now has a reputation as one of Guildford’s favourite destinations for business meetings, evening dining, socialising and weddings.
